Why Sometimes Diet and Exercise Wont Help You Lose Fat

Why Sometimes Diet and Exercise Wont Help You Lose Fat

In this article I'd like to talk about a big problem that pops up constantly in our health & fitness business. Customers and clients come to me asking for advice because a particular diet program they're on isn't working. I'd like to talk about why sometimes diet and exercise wont help you lose fat.
Believe it or not this is a very common story we hear. I'll use a woman named Susie as an example. Susie comes to us and says, "Clay and Derek. I started this diet plan and have been following it very strictly. I'm eating all the right foods. And, I'm even exercising consistently. But nothing is happening. I'm not losing any fat. What's the deal?"
What's Susie's problem? Is it bad genetics? Is she destined to be fat? Is the diet program all wrong? Are the foods she eating bad for fat loss?
Most of the time the answer to these questions is 'No'. A lot of popular diets out there are based on good theory and should work for fat loss. And most people aren't destined to be fat. That's a load of crap but I'll save this for another article.
The problem is internal issues. Your body's digestive tract and metabolism have been damaged to a point that no matter how healthily you're eating it doesn't matter.
We refer to this as 'turbulence'.
Turbulence is just a simple term to refer to a state your body goes into when your body refuses to digest foods properly... and debris begin to accumulate in your digestive tract.
This wreaks havoc on your internal systems, leads to a slow metabolism, spikes in insulin, and the storage of a lot of fat.
Most if not all of our overweight clients are at least partially in a state of turbulence.
And when your body isn't digesting foods properly your body cannot get all the nutrients it needs. Thus, it doesn't matter how healthy a particular food is, your body doesn't get what it needs... and this leads your system to think it's in starvation mode... which leads to more fat gain!
This is why it's often harder for people who are overweight to lose fat than people who have less fat. And this is why even the best diet will fail you if your body is in this state of turbulence, and not digesting foods correctly.
Turbulence is why sometimes diet and exercise wont help you lose fat. Your body is too damaged to respond.
It's a very frustrating realization for most people... and it's what leads a lot of smart folks to blame the diets they're on and begin the negative cycle of thinking they're 'destined' to be fat forever.
